When you become a mom, your purse is no longer your own. Suddenly you're carrying a diaper bag full of baby gear, then toddler snacks and toys... you know the drill. With twins, I carry a lot of stuff for my kids (we're still in the diaper bag stage but hopefully graduating soon). But it's just as important that I remember to carry the things that I need when we are on the go.
Keeping these 5 essentials in my purse at all times helps me to feel good and stay healthy.
5 Purse Essentials for Moms on the Go
1. Hand Sanitizer. I prefer to wash with soap and water, but that's not always possible. I keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my bag for those times when I can't wash but I need to clean my (or the boys') hands. Especially during cold and flu season! Keeping my hands clean is an absolute necessity.
2. Pocket tissues. Moms always need tissues. Always. For your own sneezes, kid's runny noses, or to wipe down a yucky shopping cart handle, you can never go wrong with having a little pack of tissues in your purse.
3. Lip Balm. Having a good lip balm is a must in all seasons whether to protect your lips from the summer sun or winter wind. I love ChapStick Total Hydration because it's 100% Natural and it instantly smooths and moisturizes. My favorite is the soothing vanilla - I don't leave home without it!
4. Pain Reliever. Whether it's aches and pains from lifting my kids or heavy bags of groceries, or a headache from too much noise at the bounce house, I find myself reaching for the Advil in my bag on a regular basis. These super cute little vials fit right in my purse! Use Advil tablets for headaches, minor arthritis and other joint pain, muscle aches and pains of the common cold.
5. My Secret Weapon. I never remember to take my vitamins before we leave the house so I was excited to discover these Centrum Vitamints. New Centrum VitaMints are adult multivitamins with a refreshingly minty taste you can take/enjoy any time of day, with or without food or water. So when I've had that extra cup of coffee on the road and I feel like I need a mint I reach in my bag and voila! I can take my vitamin too. Sheer genius.
I keep all my purse essentials in a little zipper pouch that fits right inside my purse - it helps keep my stuff separate from the boys' (and protects everything from the sippy cup/snack spills that always seem to happen in my bag). And I can easily drop the pouch into a smaller purse for those times that I get to head out on my own without lugging the diaper bag. Perfect!
I pick up all my purse essentials at Walmart - it's easy to find everything I need in one stop!
