I'm so excited to announce that this year we are joining Growing Book by Book and Daisy at Home to bring you the Family Dinner Book Club - a monthly book club centered around one of my favorite things - dinner with my family! Each month, we will share a book, a themed menu, a table craft, conversation starters, and even a service project all centered around that month's title. We'll alternate between chapter books and picture books - you can find the entire 2016 book list here (including a handy printable schedule).

January's Family Dinner Book Club pick is A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond. First published in 1958, this classic tale of a bear from Peru adopted by the Brown family has delighted generations of readers. It was one of my childhood favorites and I can't wait to share it with my boys this month!
I've put together an easy craft inspired by A Bear Called Paddington - a Paddington Bear Cup! This fun table craft will perfectly complement this Paddington themed menu and conversation starters - everything that you need for Family Dinner Book Club this month.
To make your own Paddington Bear Cup, you will need:
- Blue Paper Cups
- Red & Brown Craft Foam
- Wooden Toggle Buttons
- Drinking Straws
- Double Sided Tape
- Scissors
Directions:
First, use the double sided tape to adhere 2 wooden buttons on the front of your cup.
Next, cut a suitcase shape out of brown craft foam. Stick it to the side of your cup using the double sided tape.
Then cut a hat shape out of red craft foam - you can do it freehand or trace the shape from your book cover. Cut 2 small slits in the center of the hat shape, and thread your straw through.
All finished! This adorable Paddington Bear inspired cup will be the perfect addition to your Paddington themed menu for family dinner book club night. And be sure to check out the Paddington conversation starters & service project from Growing Book by Book.
