There's something about going to the pumpkin patch that my kids just adore. They would go to the pumpkin patch every day in the Fall if we could, so I decided to create the next best thing for them - a "pumpkin patch" in our own backyard! It was really easy to do and gave us hours of Fall themed fun. This is a perfect learning activity, or makes a great Fall playdate or kids birthday party idea. We had a blast and I know your kids will too.

Kids Pumpkin Patch Set Up
The set up for your own kids pumpkin patch is really easy. I started with an awesome dramatic play pumpkin patch printable pack made by my friend Vanessa at Pre-K Pages. You can check it out here. Vanessa has great instructions on how to set up a play pumpkin patch, along with adorable signs to decorate your patch.
In addition to the printables, for the main pumpkin patch area you'll need:
- Hay Bale(s)
- Assorted Pumpkins. I used craft pumpkins that I have for decorating the house, so that we can reuse them again and again, but of course real pumpkins work too.
- Decorative scarecrows or other cute Fall themed decorations.
I also added in a few extras to remind us of the real pumpkin patch. My boys love playing in the corn bin, so I filled our water table with dried corn and an assortment of farm animal toys.
I also got out their little wagons to help them haul their pumpkins.
Playing in our Kids Pumpkin Patch
My boys were super excited to find their very own kids pumpkin patch, right in their backyard! First they had to check out all the pumpkins. They loved carrying them around and hauling them in their wagons, just like at the real pumpkin patch.
A few pumpkins took a tumble down our backyard slide.
And some of the smaller ones headed into the corn bin.
We had a wonderful day playing in our very own pumpkin patch. The set up was so easy with the dramatic play kit printables and detailed instructions, and we can use it for the rest of the Fall. Perfect for kids who love pumpkins like mine!
