As I'm flipping through the calendar I realized that we have another first year of school milestone coming up quickly - our first real Spring Break! And since it has been a very long winter I couldn't be more excited for the vacation.

Planning a Family Friendly Spring Break
There are a few steps that I take when I plan any vacation, and planning a family friendly Spring Break is no exception. We've been researching Florida Travel and I've found that Ocala/Marion County has a lot to offer. If you're looking for the perfect Spring Break getaway, here's a few things to consider and how Ocala/Marion County might just have exactly what you need.
Budget
The first thing to determine with any vacation is your budget. You want to have a good idea of how much you have to spend and how you plan to allocate it between travel, lodging, food, and entertainment expenses. Ocala/Marion County is a great budget friendly destination, with lots of options to fit every price point. It's also an easy drive to major central Florida cities and theme parks, without the high price tag.
Lodging
When you're traveling with young kids like mine, a typical hotel is not always the best option for comfort, privacy, or even your wallet. This is one of the biggest decisions you'll make when planning your trip, and it's important to balance costs and comfort.
When planning for our vacation, I love seeing all of the Ocala/Marion County Lodging options. You can find everything from campgrounds to cabins to cute Bed & Breakfasts and of course hotels and motels. For us, finding somewhere affordable to stay that gives us a little more space (a separate living room is a must!) is at the top of our vacation wish list.

Activities
When I'm planning a Spring Break trip, I'm all about getting outdoors and enjoying some fresh air and warm sun. I also want to find a place with activities that my entire family can enjoy! Ocala/Marion has tons of options for outdoor fun that are different from your typical Florida beach vacation.
The adventurous members of the family can try zip lining or kayaking, while the more laid back types can enjoy fishing or boating. With hundreds of freshwater springs and lakes, plus several rivers, there are Ocala/Marion County Activities for everyone!
When you're planning your trip be sure to make a list of all the activities you want to try, to help you finalize your budget and so that you don't miss a thing. My husband has golf at the top of his list while my boys can't wait to try a trail ride - and since Ocala is the Horse Capital of the World™ it has everything a budding equestrian could want.
