Packing lunches is one of those things that happens pretty much every school day. For most of us, that's 180 days of figuring out what to put in our kids' lunchboxes. Add in summer camps and that number might even be higher. And of course, that's per child. If you have two or more you're literally packing hundreds of lunches every year.
Easy Kids Lunch Box Packing
My twins are at the age where they want to do everything themselves. I've discovered the secret to helping them to gain independence is by giving them visual reminders of the things they need to accomplish. Packing lunches is no exception, so I designed a printable lunch packing checklist to help guide their choices and let them prepare their own lunches each day.
The lunch packing checklist is really simple to use. At the top, you'll find check boxes for all the major components of a balanced lunch: a main dish, fruit, vegetable, snack, dessert, and a drink.
Underneath, there is a place for you to write in the available choices for each category. This helps your kids to know what they can choose each day. Having choices is important to encourage their independence while also guiding them towards healthy options.

Using The Lunch Packing Checklist
Setting up your lunch packing checklist is simple. Download and print, then hang in the kitchen at your kids' level (ours is on the refrigerator). You may want to laminate it so that you can save ink and paper.
Fill in the "My Choices" section with the options available for each category. Then when it is time to pack their lunchbox, your child will know what he or she has to choose from. For little kids, you can pre-package small bags or containers of each item, while older kids may be able to do it themselves.
Then they can check off each category as they pack their lunchbox. This ensures that they are making good choices (and not filling their lunch with cookies and sweets!).
Our Favorite Choice for Lunch Box Drinks
When it comes to giving my boys' choices for lunch box drinks, I want to make sure that they have options made with All Natural Ingredients and No Added Sugar*. And if there's veggies inside that's even better! That's why we love these four new products from CAPRI SUN.
Made with All Natural ingredients, no added sugar* and no high-fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, these four new products from CAPRI SUN have the taste kids love, without the ingredients that parents don’t want in their kids’ drinks.
CAPRI SUN is a brand that continues to innovate and listen to consumers, and knows that parents want to feel good about what they give their kids to eat and drink. That’s the main reason CAPRI SUN created four products with All Natural Ingredients and No Added Sugar*, and why their products have never contained artificial preservatives, colors or flavors – to give parents options with ingredients that fit their preferences.
Just look at these options, all in convenient pouches that are perfect for packing in your lunch box!
