How to Make Animal Soap Jellies Your Kids Will Love

Kids love these adorable soap jellies made with calming essential oils.

When I tell my 5 year old twins that it's bath time, sometimes they tell me they want to take a "playing bath, not a washing bath." I say that we can do both, and these adorable soap jellies make every bath that much more fun!

Encouraging kids to get clean when they are learning to bathe themselves sometimes requires a little creativity. That's why these jelly soaps are so perfect for kids! With fun animal faces, lots of fun soapy foam, and a wiggly jiggly feel, these homemade soaps will make your kids look forward to bath time.

And since I've added some soothing kid-friendly essential oils to the mix, moms will love them for their calming properties.

Homemade Animal Soap Jellies for Kids

These soap jellies are great for bath time or for every day hand washing. They make a perfect handmade gift idea too. Here's what you need.

Ingredients:

1 cup mild or all-natural soap (We love this Tea Tree Lavender soap from Trader Joe’s. If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s nearby, you can find it on Amazon.)

2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin. We use this brand as it makes the soap more sturdy and hold up longer.

1 cup boiling water

1/2 teaspoon liquid vegetable glycerin

10-20 drops Calming the Child essential oil blend (or you can substitute  5-10 drops each of lavender essential oil and chamomile essential oil)

Soap coloring

Silicone Animal Mold (this one is from Joann). You can use any mold you like. If you don't have a Joann nearby or want to order from Amazon, these are cute options.

Instructions:

Pour the boiling water into a medium sized mixing bowl. Add in the unflavored gelatin and stir to dissolve. Add glycerin and liquid soap and stir well.

Add your essential oils and mix everything together.

At this point, if you are using more than one color, separate your mixture evenly into one small bowl for each color.

Add soap coloring to each bowl. Start with a drop or two and add until you achieve your desired shade. Stir well until color is combined.

Next, spray the bottom of your mold with rubbing alcohol. Pour your colored mixture into the mold. When done, spray the top of the mold with more rubbing alcohol.

Refrigerate for at least two hours. Store in an air tight container until ready to use.
