I love making homemade dog cookies for lots of reasons. First, they are so easy to make that it's a great cooking project for my twin boys. Our two dogs are their best buddies, so they are so happy to make something special just for them.
For me, it's important to make sure that I'm feeding my dogs healthy treats and snacks. I know that when we make homemade dog cookies they only contain wholesome ingredients without extra preservatives or strange ingredients I can't pronounce.
Both of my dogs LOVE peanut butter so these homemade peanut butter oatmeal dog cookies have been a hit in our house. I'm super excited to share the recipe with you, just in time for holiday baking projects. These dog treats make great gifts... if your dogs don't gobble them up first.
Homemade Peanut Butter Oatmeal Dog Cookies
Your dog is sure to love these homemade dog cookies made with wholesome ingredients like peanut butter and oatmeal. Here's what you need to make your own batch of peanut butter oatmeal dog cookies.
Ingredients & Supplies
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup bone broth or beef broth
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (make sure it does not contain xylitol)
- 1/3 cup shredded cheese
- Doggie Bone Cookie Cutter or silicone mold
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Rolling pin
Directions
- In a large bowl or your stand mixer bowl, add wheat flour, almond flour, oatmeal and baking soda.
- Add coconut oil, beef broth and egg.
- Add peanut butter
- Add cheese.
Mix on low until all ingredients are well combined. If the mixture is too dry, add a bit more beef broth. If the mixture is too wet, add a bit more wheat flour. The goal is to have a mixture you can roll out and use the cookie cutter on.
Once your mixture is fully incorporated, transfer it to a flat surface.
Put down a piece of parchment paper with a dusting of whole wheat flour. Then put a piece of parchment paper on top and using a rolling pin, roll out dough until thin enough to use your cookie cutter.
Cut your dough with the cookie cutter and place on a baking sheet lined with a baking mat or parchment paper. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, turning over halfway through.
Allow to fully cool before serving. This recipe will make approximately 20-26 biscuits, depending on the size cookie cutter or mold you use.
Store your homemade dog cookies in an airtight container. I love to use Mason jars to create fun homemade gifts for my dog loving friends and family!
