If you live anywhere that has seasons, you have seasonal clothes. From winter gear to summer essentials, some of our wardrobe can only be worn for part of the year.
As the seasons change, it is time to organize and store our seasonal clothes. This is a big job for moms as we are likely doing it for our entire family, including growing kids who may not even fit into those clothes by the time the season rolls around again!
Organizing seasonal clothes doesn't have to be a chore. With a few simple tips and help from Tide PODS® Laundry Detergent, you can make organizing your off-season clothes easy.
How to Make Organizing Seasonal Clothes Easy
There are a few ways that you can make organizing and storing your seasonal clothes easier, whether you're packing away heavy coats and sweaters before spring or boxing up bikinis in the fall. Here are the things you need to remember to make it simple.
Declutter Your Closet First
Every organizing project should start with decluttering, and seasonal clothes are no exception. The change of season is the perfect time to purge clothes that you don't wear or don't fit well. If you didn't wear it this year you probably won't want to next year, and those unwanted clothes will just waste storage space.
Clean Items Before You Store Them
You want to be sure that everything you store has been freshly washed before packing it away. Dirt, odors, and stains will set over time and you may find that your clothes are ruined in storage if they are not properly cleaned.
Fortunately, Tide PODS® makes it super easy to get your clothes clean and fresh and Giant Food makes it simple to get great deals on the brands you love.

Sort by Season, Type, and Size
Now that you've decided which seasonal clothes you are keeping, and you've washed them with Tide PODS®, you'll need to decide how to organize them.
Depending on your family's needs, I recommend sorting clothes by season, type, and size.
Sorting by season is pretty simple: keep winter clothes together, summer clothes together, etc. Then sort by type: all of your sweaters in one bin, coats in another, etc.
When storing kids' clothes, you may also need to sort by size. Especially if you are planning to pass clothes down to younger siblings.

Once you have your clothes sorted, make labels for everything so that you know what's inside each bin.
Choose the Right Storage Solution
Once everything is clean and sorted you'll need to decide how to store it all.
Clothing can be sensitive to temperature and humidity, so be sure to store your seasonal clothes away from damp basements or humid attics. Choose a sealed container so that bugs, dirt, and moisture can't get in.

Plastic bins are a great choice as they are sturdy, hold a lot, and are easy to label. If you have limited storage, you may want to try vacuum sealed storage bags. Or if you have an extra closet available, hanging storage is a great option.
Now that spring is here, I have packed away all my boys' winter clothes for the season.
