My kids LOVE decorating for Halloween. So much so that they want to do it immediately after Labor Day.

Seriously, by the middle of September our house looks more like a pumpkin patch than anything. (I even made a backyard pumpkin patch one year.).

We've done everything from painting pumpkins to making paper jack o'lanterns, and this year I thought it would be fun to try making our own no sew fabric pumpkins.

This is a fun craft that the whole family can do together. It makes a great Halloween party activity too  (hint hint classroom moms!).

These sweet stuffed pumpkins make great Halloween decorations, and kids can customize them any way they want. You'll want to help get them started but once you do the entire family can have fun making these adorable Halloween friends. Here's what you need to make your own.

No Sew Fabric Pumpkins

This simple craft requires just a few supplies that you may already have at home.

Supplies needed:

  • Orange, white, black, and green crafting felt
  • Low temp glue gun and glue (if the kids will be doing this project make sure that you have one of these on hand to keep them safe)
  • Scissors
  • Cotton

Directions:

1. Begin by laying two pieces of orange felt on top of each other.

2. Take your scissors and cut out your round pumpkin shape. Make sure the edges match up so your two shapes are identical. Depending on your kids' ages, you may want to do this part for them.

3. Line the perimeter of one pumpkin with glue. Make sure you leave an approximately 1 inch opening as this is where you will insert the cotton.

4. Place the two pieces of orange felt together and press along the edges so they adhere.

5. Find the opening along the edge and fill it with cotton. Push the cotton around and inside of the pumpkin so it is distributed evenly.

6. Seal up the open inch or so of fabric so all of the stuffing stays safely inside.

7. Cut out two circles from the white felt for eyes and two from the black felt for pupils. Glue them to together and assemble them on the face of the pumpkin. Feel free to get creative with different shapes for eyes if you prefer a different look!

8. Create a small shape for the mouth using the black felt. Again, be creative and make it your own. Glue your mouth to the face.

9. Finish off the pumpkin by gluing a segment of green felt to the top of the pumpkin.

Once the stem is added and the glue is dry, your fabric pumpkin is ready to be displayed (or cuddled).

Make as many as you want for your own stuffed pumpkin patch! This craft makes a great craft or treat bag filler for class Halloween parties or even a fun no-candy option for trick or treating.
