Thank you to Farm Rich snacks and appetizers for sponsoring this post.
There are two things that are always true for my boys at the end of the school day.
1. They're hungry.
2. They don't want to answer when I ask, "how was your day?"
Sound familiar?
We've all been there, wanting to know everything about their day when they just want to have a snack and unwind. That's why I've come up with a super fun way to let them do both... and I get to learn how their day went without even asking the question.
Want to learn the secret? Keep reading to see how to get your kids talking about their day with a fun and easy after school snack idea and how you can enter for the chance to WIN an awesome Fun Movie Night in a Box!
After School Snacks Made Simple
My boys eat lunch pretty early, so when they get home from school having a snack is our first priority. Fortunately, I can give them snacks that I feel good about without a lot of work thanks to Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 Mozzarella Shapes from Farm Rich.
Everyone in our family loves Woody, Buzz, and the whole gang. So much so that my twins decided to have a Toy Story 4 themed birthday party this year! Any snack that reminds them of their favorite movie is sure to be a hit. That's why they love the new Toy Story 4 Mozzarella Shapes from Farm Rich.

When my hungry boys come home from school, they love finding familiar shapes on their snack plate like Woody's Hat, the Space Aliens, and one of their newest favorites, Bunny.
While they love the shapes, I love the fact that these snacks have received the "Mickey Check" of good nutrition! Real mozzarella cheese and a whole grain rich coating means that they are a good source of calcium and pack 14 grams of protein.
I can pop these snacks in the oven and have a fun, delicious snack on the table in just 11 minutes. Add in some fresh fruit and vegetables and you have a balanced snack that will keep your kids feeling full until dinner time.

Once their bellies are full, I've found my boys are much more willing to tell me about their day, especially when their snack is paired with our DIY "Let's Talk" jar! This is a super easy and fun way to encourage your kids to talk without asking, "how was your day?"

DIY After School Questions Jar
We keep this jar on our kitchen table, and it's the perfect way to engage your kids in conversation at snack time or anytime! To make your own, you'll need:
The idea is simple: write one conversation starter on each stick and place them into the jar. You can decorate the outside of your jar if you'd like - I used my cutting machine to write "Let's Talk" on the outside.
Our jar has these sticks inside - feel free to use these and add your own too!
- Something you learned today.
- Something you're excited for.
- Something you read today.
- Something silly.
- Something that surprised you.
- Something you heard.
- One way that someone was kind to you.
- Something that was hard.
- One thing that you ate today.
- Something that made you laugh.
- Something you talked about.
- One way that you were kind.
- One thing that you are proud of.
I also include a WILD CARD stick which means that you can say anything!
At snack time, we each take turns choosing a stick from the jar and talking about the topic we've picked. It's a great way to spark conversation and encourage your kids to share stories about their day.
