If I asked you what "clean" smelled like, what would you say?
My answer might surprise you. To me, clean doesn't smell like anything. It's the absence of odors, not a heavy perfume smell, that means that something is truly clean.
When it comes to laundry, this is a tough one. I don't like to use perfumed detergents or fabric softener, mainly because those fragrances can be irritating to our family's sensitive skin. And I definitely don't want to just cover up odors with heavy scents.
So how do I make sure that my laundry is really clean and fresh smelling? I was in the bleach aisle of Walmart when I found my answer.
The Secret Weapon for Stinky Laundry
With two active boys and two dogs in our house, I deal with my fair share of laundry odors. Whether it's the dog bed, workout gear, or the boys' dirty socks, sometimes detergent alone doesn't get my laundry totally clean. That's why I love Clorox Bleach-Free Fabric Sanitizer & Stain Remover. It's an easy solution to help sanitize and freshen your toughest laundry challenges.
Clorox Fabric Sanitizer is super simple to use. Simply spray directly onto your stinkiest laundry, wait 3 minutes, then wash as usual. That's it! The spray has an easy to use trigger that gives you better coverage and control, and with SMART TUBE Technology you know you'll get every drop from the bottle.
And the best part? Your clothes don't just come out smelling fresh. You know they are clean because Clorox Fabric Sanitizer kills 99.9% of odor causing bacteria. How amazing is that?
Plus, because there is zero bleach, it's color safe on most fabrics. You can use it anytime you need an extra boost of cleaning power!

One More Tip for Stinky Socks
Socks are one of the biggest contributors to our stinky laundry pile. Especially because my boys seem to toss them everywhere! That's why I have one more trick to take care of stinky socks: a DIY laundry bag to keep them in one spot (and out of sight).
My boys are really good about putting their dirty laundry in the hamper... except when it comes to socks. It seems like I am constantly finding random socks everywhere from the front door to under the couch. I decided we needed a special spot to put our socks when we take them off and this super cute mini laundry bag works perfectly.
To make your own sock laundry bag, you'll need:
- small canvas drawstring bag
- Iron on material
- Cutting machine (optional, you can also print and cut by hand)
- "Stick your socks here" design file
- Iron or heat press
- Clip magnets
To get the laundry bag design file delivered to your email, enter your info below.
Once you've downloaded the design file, you can then upload it to your cutting machine software and follow the instructions for iron on material.
If you don't have a cutting machine, you can print the design on iron on paper, cut by hand, and iron onto your bag.
Then use your clip magnets to attach your bag to the side of your washing machine if you'd like. This way everyone will know where to put their stinky socks!
Then all your socks will be in one spot when it's time to wash. You can use your Clorox Fabric Sanitizer to make sure not only your socks get clean, but to wash your laundry bag as well. It's a perfect combination!
